Nutrition is so important.  Nutrition for me, is not just food, but anything I let in my life, my mind, my body, my soul.  Is it nourishing me or not?

When it comes to nourishing my mind/my thoughts, I have found that listening to inspiring music, motivational speeches and checking myself on what channel my thoughts are on is critical.  I prefer to live on Channel P, as I learned from David Schwartz of the Magic of Thinking Big.  By residing on Channel P, my Ms. Triumph prevails no matter what is happening in my life, or my surroundings.  No, it isn’t easy.  It’s a consciousness.  It’s a choice.  As I am aware that I am not where I want or need to be, I adjust, like the stealth bomber in the air.

When it comes to nourishing my body, I do my best to listen to my body.  I have found over the years that our bodies lets its owner know what’s good for it and what is not.  For example, I used to have horrible migraines since I was a little girl.  I had the kind of migraines where my vision in one eye begins to flash like the strobe lights I grew up with at disco parties.  Once the horrible strobe-like flash is over, I would totally lose any vision in that eye for quite some time.  My head would hurt worse than anything I knew.  No medicine would help.  For years, I never knew what caused it, let alone what to do about it.  As I continued to try to listen to my body, I found myself experimenting with my diet at times.  Over time, I noticed, even years later, that I no longer had migraines.  Since I have made so many changes to my diet over the years, I am not certain just what I eliminated that has helped me.  But I have not had any migraines for over 30 years.  Years later, through a process of elimination, I have found that I am gluten intolerant. I gambled with this even after I found out about it.  One day, I hit my wall.  I feel so much better feeding my body not only what it needs, but deserves and requires.  I have decided that I am worth it.

When it comes to my soul, I find that journaling really helps ground me.  The first time I ever journaled was back when I had a diary with the lock and key on it growing up.  I was just talking with a girlfriend about diaries.  She too had the same type of diary growing up.  We agreed that today’s word for diary is journal.  We found that she too, is an avid journaler today.  Journaling for me has been therapeutic.  So much so, that my first book, Rear View Reflections,  came from many journal entries written in prose poetry format over time.

In addition to journaling, I love reading or listening to inspirational books or passages.  The Bible Experience is my favorite, when listening to the bible.  I also listen many times to positive subliminals when resting. Quieting my mind with meditation is grounding for me also. These practices not only touch my mind, but my soul as well.  I believe that thereby these practices positively affect my body overall.  We are multi-dimensional beings!

I remember when computers came out.  The phrase ‘garbage in garbage out’ resonated with me.  It reminded of the reality of sowing and reaping.  What I put in, is what I get out.

We are usually showing our love and appreciation for everyone, but ourselves.  Yet, if we say we love them, the way we do, then we would do better with how we take care of ourselves, mind, body & soul. Taking care of ourselves is not selfish, but self-full, as Iyanla Vanzant says.

From balanced meals to balanced lives, your first wealth is your multi-faceted health!
